STUDENT POLICIES

Absence from any class will need to be made up in the following course cycle.  There is too much valuable class presentation and discussion to “make up” that work in another way.  A student who has missed a  class may participate in the graduation ceremony with their group if they wish, but the certification will be withheld until that student successfully completes the class in the following cycle.   Qualifying distance learning students will be given a login & password to access the course classes.  Attendance for each course will be based on students who are logged into the system for the entire course time.  To qualify for the Distance Learning option of our program, a student must be more than a 2 hour driving distance.

Should special circumstances require you to leave early and/or be late for a class, you have two hours of grace time.  You may be late or leave early a maximum of two hours.  Otherwise you are considered absent.

All work needs to be completed by the month before graduation.  Should you need an extension, a request must be submitted in writing, addressed to the Steering Committee of the LLTI.  You may also contact the Organizing Dean to explain your situation.  You may graduate with one grade of “Incomplete”, and finish the work within the four weeks following graduation. Should you have more than one “Incomplete” you can be considered for graduation in the following cycle.

If extremely special circumstances require you to turn in work after graduation all work MUST be turned in within one month.  There will be no exceptions.  After this extension limit, the whole program cycle (all classes) must be repeated in order for the student to receive his/her certificate and complete graduation.

Any concerns about homework must first be directed to the Professor.  If the issue is not resolved, the Steering Committee may get involved.  We encourage dialogue and discussion between professors and students before any third party gets involved.  Should you need counsel about such matters, please contact the Organizing Dean.

All work must be sent directly to the Professor, unless otherwise instructed.  Students with late work are responsible to make sure that professor submits the grade to the Organizing Dean and/or the Administrative Assistant.

The graduation fee is due at the last class.

All Mentors must be approved by the Steering Committee.  See the Mentor/Student Covenant for the nature of this relationship and frequency of meetings.

It is your responsibility to follow through with your Student/Mentor meetings.  Should you experience unusual circumstances, please contact the Organizing Dean and/or the Administrative Assistant.

Students who do not show interest or aptitude for the work may be dropped from the program.  The decision to drop a student will be at the discretion of the Dean and Steering Committee.  Students may choose to audit classes.

I agree to abide by the above Student Policies and do my best to uphold the Lay Leader Training Institute guidelines for successful completion of this program.
